A Few Article Marketing Tips

by Mark E. Mason on February 28, 2010

newspaper As I have mentioned before, article marketing is a great way to increase your traffic, establish yourself as an expert in your field and gain publicity.  Writing and distributing articles online really can do all of that for you.

I do a lot of article marketing under about 15 different pseudonyms in 50 different niches.  For me, article marketing is a very effective way to get backlinks and direct traffic – especially since it is relatively easy to outsource.  Heck, I even once showed you how I got traffic to something as bizarre a as site about chicken coops.

Anyway, I am actually on an airplane bound for Asia at the moment, so I thought I would throw down a couple of Article Marketing tips:

Now it is time to write the articles, we discussed earlier how to write a good article so now let's talk about an important SEO concept, keyword density. This is a measure of how many times your keyword appears in the text per 100 words.

This is another fiercely debated issue and everyone has their own 'magic number' which they swear works for them. The problem is that number is coming down all the time. It used to be anything up to 5% which to be honest makes your pages sound awful! But thankfully Google has recognized that as trying to spam the search engines and now most people use 1 or 2%.

If you have your own site then you can use whatever percentage you want, but when submitting to article directories then your article will be reviewed by a human editor so it needs to sound right. I typically use about 1%, but I might throw in a few variations of the keyword as well just to help things out.

Which brings me to the next point, if you can get the keyword in exactly as it is then by all means do it, but only if it sounds natural. Some keywords might sound strange to put them in an article like, 'house train dog fast' ‐ some people will just shoehorn that into their sentences to get their density up, but it is obvious to the editors what you are doing, and your reader thinks you are a bit strange but doesn't know why you are doing it!

Should I Spin My Articles When Doing Article Marketing?

by Mark E. Mason March 16, 2009

Spinning articles is the process of using one ‘seed’ article to produce hundreds of variations by replacing certain words or sentences with options you have given the software. This has been given a bad name because most spinners encourage you to replace just certain words, so you might have the sentence: “Dog training can be [...]
