Resist The Urge To Be Distracted

by Mark Mason on January 10, 2012

I intentionally did not post a Motivational Monday post this Monday.  I am focused on closing out some tasks so that I can turn all of my attention to meeting the 2012 goals that I set out for myself in my 2012 Internet Marketing Goals post.  But I am having some motivation and focus issues myself -- don't we all -- so I figured I would take a break and share this scary fact with you.

Scary Fact:  Almost 3% of 2012 is over. There are less than 350 shopping days left before Christmas.

Seriously, this is the hard part.  Right now.  Today.  You set all of these awesome goals several weeks ago, and promised you'd start on January 2 (after all, January 1 was a Sunday).  But now it's January 10th, and you can already start to feel the doubt creep in.  Can you make your goals?  Are they even realistic?  That little voice (the yucky one) is talking to you.  I know it's starting to talk to you because it's starting to talk to me.

A bigger problem is the distractions.  For example, today I bought a WSO from Willie Crawford.  It's totally awesome.  But it does not directly help me with my 2012 goals -- at least not at first glance.  Why did I buy it?  Well, it was really (really) interesting and a great value.  Willie is amazing in many ways (and a really nice guy in person).  Was it a cool offer?  Yes.  Did I need it right now?  Not at all.  My best guess is that it is a very sophisticated form of procrastination.

2012 Internet Marketing Goals

by Mark Mason on January 2, 2012

2012 Internet Marketing Goals GraphicI spend a lot of time prattling on about how important goals are -- especially internet marketing goals. It's not just talk -- I really believe goals are critical. I set them all the time, especially at the end of each year. I even write them down. But I usually don't go public with my internet marketing goals for MasonWorld.com - not until this year.

Why the sudden change?

Two reasons really - a main reason, and a second reason. The second reason was sort of the straw that broke camel's back. Not a straw, really -- a blogger. A really popular internet marketing blogger that lives in a place where the sun is always shining (both literally and figuratively).

More on that guy in a minute. Read the Full Article →

Motivational Tip #31 – Create a Blog

by Mark Mason October 25, 2011
internet marketing motivation

And now for a Motivational Monday post on Tuesday! Last week, I wrote a post about how to create a blog, but I did not really talk about why you might want to create one.  There are obvious “internet marketing” reasons, like affiliate marketing product promotion.  There are also other popular reasons, like carving out [...]

Motivational Tip #30 – Create a Personal Slogan

by Mark Mason April 18, 2011

My experience is that sometimes we can get so lost in the details of what we are trying to accomplish, we forget why we are doing it in the first place.  Yet, the reason for moving forward is usually our best motivational tool. Now, this might sound silly, but have you considered creating a personal [...]

Motivational Tip #29 – Let Yourself Day Dream A Little

by Mark Mason April 11, 2011

Everyone knows how important goals are in business (and in life). Day dreaming can go a long way in helping you to stay motivated. It can help you to visualize how you will feel and how your life will be tangibly different when you finally accomplish a goal. And from these day dreams, you can [...]

Motivational Tip #28 – Start Your Day Early

by Mark Mason February 14, 2011

OK — this is going to sound goofy coming from the “Late Night Internet Marketing Guy”.  But it turns out that many successful individuals follow a very similar morning routine – they get up early and work on the most critical parts of their business first.  Oftentimes, I hear people make the excuse that they [...]

by Mark Mason January 23, 2011

OK — so you might think this is crazy.  But from time to time you need to actually stop working, get up from your computer and stretch.  I am not talking about procrastinating — I am talking about taking a break.  Case in point:  Jason Van Orden from Internet Business Mastery actually sets a timer [...]
