Best Article Directory List

In the past few months, I have written about the
value of article marketing. One of the questions that always comes up is "what article directories should I submit to." As you know, I follow the article marketing strategy outlined in
Article Marketing Domination, and I use
Article Post Robot to post my articles. Still, the question remains, "what are the best article directories."
See, the problem is that you can find excellent article directory lists, but they are out of date as soon as they are published. After some discussions with my buddy, Article Marketing guru Josh Spaulding, I decided that what was needed was a site that ranks article directories on an on-going basis. So, I fired up the text editor and wrote a simple Perl script to do just that.
Introducing the MasonWorld Article Directory List
I have created a script that looks at various stats for the major article directories and ranks them. The script runs every Sunday night, providing you with a weekly ranking of the best article directories. Currently, ranking is based on Google Page Rank and Alexa score. However, I have lots of additional features planned, including additional ranking criteria.
Your suggestions, comments and ideas are appreciated.

Hi Mark,
Wow this looks really cool. Sorry for the short comment, as I am on my mobile at the moment. I do have a question for you. Is there a way to know when one of these directories publishes fresh articles? Perhaps you already mentioned that. I was pretty quick to scan the post.
One thing that concerns me about posting articles is the dup content factor. New articles if you can grab them before anyone else does would be great. Landing the first copy index in Google would be even better.

Now thas a really good resource. The best article directories change over time so I am always checkuing to see which ones are the best when I go to submit articles. That’s something I won’t have to anymore as I’ll just bookmark your directory ranking resource and whola I will be able to see which ones are on the up and which ones are on the down…cool

@Garry — well, my purpose for this directory is to help people find the best directories to post articles. The more popular the directory, the stronger the backlinks, the more chance for your article to be syndicated, and the more click-through traffic to your site.
I do not believe that there is a “duplicate content penality” as such, but I am sure that google takes duplicate content into consideration is some ways. Having said that, I never post my blog content to article directorie — I always post new content with the hopes that it will be popular, rank well, syndicated, and will generate traffic and backlinks back to my site.

Sorry I sped read thru that… this is for people that want to submit content into, rather than look for content to use on their sites.

@Web Business — thanks! Very interested in hearing features that you would like to see.
@Garry — no problem. The post is pretty short, and you were on your BlackBerry. LOL

Hey Mark,
I was about to sign-up at Buzzle but it says the following:
“We do not accept duplicate content i.e. you should not submit any article that already exists on some other website. If you intend to submit original and unique articles, please fill out the form below to become a member.”
If this is true…..then it probably true for all of the sites….??? Am I reading it wrong?
Please help!

@Ray — Buzzle has been full of attitude lately. This is definitely not true of most all other article directories. Note that if you submit to Buzzel first, or spin your article slightly to make it “unique”, you will meet their TOC.

@ Ray - Running an article directory, a quality one anyway, is stressful business! I’ve ran several in my time and ended up selling every one because it’s really a full-time job. You’re constantly getting people who submit crap and it gets annoying.
With all of the article directories I ran in the past, I denied more articles than I accepted and I was somewhat lenient with my guidelines.
My guess is they’re mad at the Internet Marketing community as a whole, although we’re not all spammers.
I would never limit my submissions to one article directory and they’re foolish to think anyone would choose them over EzineArticles.
Just submit to them before you submit elsewhere you should be good to go. If they start declining them never submit to them again. If they want to crap on their authors (who got them where they are) then we can crap right back on them

Great idea and service Mark! Thanks. I think this could be big for you.

Okay, that is super cool. And good also good to know that for the most part, I’ve been posting to the higher quality ones. BTW, I’ve been using Article Post Rebot and have been very happy with it.
