Internet Marketing is an incredibly competitive business -- especially if you are trying to compete in the Make Money Online niche. Obviously, it's so tough because the people you are competing with are experts in critical areas like SEO and the like, so they are able to re-use the tools and strategies that that they are selling to win in the market.
That's why you have seen so many Internet marketers turn to niche marketing. If you are an expert in SEO or Article Marketing (or whatever) and you want to be the king of Barbie Shoes online, as an Internet marketer, you can win against a Barbie enthusiast with a mediocre website and no SEO expertice almost over night.
Taking It Offline
But what about the olld-school brick and mortar businesses out there? At first glance, you might think that there is not much opportunity for Internet marketers in that space. However, that could not be further from the truth.

When I first started studying Internet Marketing, I immediately ran across Sterling and Jay and their Internet Business Mastery Podcast. I found the podcast while searching iTunes looking for information about how to make money online. At that time they had the number one internet business podcast, and they still claim that title today. When I first downloaded their podcast, I did not even know what Internet Marketing was. Since then, I have written about these guys many times on this blog. I respect them as honest experts on a variety of topics.
The Internet Business Mastery Focus
Sterling and Jay are really all about Lifestyle Design. They know a lot and teach a lot about making money online, but money is not their focus. They also know a lot and teach a lot about Internet Marketing, although teaching the latest marketing strategies is not the primary focus of their business. While they are experts on these topics and do teach all of this stuff, Internet Business Mastery is really about lifestyle design.
