Motivational Tip #27 – Stretch and Take Walks

OK -- so you might think this is crazy.  But from time to time you need to actually stop working, get up from your computer and stretch.  I am not talking about procrastinating -- I am talking about taking a break.  Case in point:  Jason Van Orden from Internet Business Mastery actually sets a timer to remind him.  After 50 minutes or so, he takes a break to stretch.

It’s normal to get bored with work and to want to do something different.  It's also true that sitting in front of your computer too much will lead to health problems.  It's what Nicole Dean calls "computer butt."  You can solve all that simply by working periodic exercise and stretching into your routine.

Personally, I like the idea of taking a walk. It’s a good way to unwind, get some physical exercise, and distance yourself from your work in a healthy way. Take your iPod and listen to your favorite internet business podcast.  By the time you return, you’ll be refreshed and ready to get things done.  It also gives you some time to think -- which might lead to that killer new idea you've been waiting for.

Motivational Tip #3 – Think in Terms of Benefits

When you think about your goals, try to visualize the benefits that will come from them. Focusing on benefits, rather than abstract goals will help you to understand how accomplishing your goals will palpably improve your life.

For instance, when you think about a goal, you might consider:

  1. How accomplishing it will make you feel
  2. How accomplishing it will improve your business
  3. How accomplishing it will make you richer
  4. How accomplishing it will your schedule freer, so that you have more free time to spend with your family
