@Garry -- Almost forgot.
Top three things to increase RSS subs (chicklet number):
1. Aweber Integration
2. Provide many reasons to opt in (friday freebie for me)
3. Provide quality content for retention (and don't sell too much)
I think that you are the world champion at number 3.
Regards,
Mark
Thanks Garry -- subs are growing. As Kent points out, I do get about 50% of the RSS subs through Aweber. Of those, I am sure that many are opting in for the free stuff.
The long term goal is to have 100 or so indexed pages that rank for common MMO terms, resulting in organic search-driven opt-ins. I must admit, however, that to date I have not been very careful with keywords. That is a change I am making starting in 2009 (actually, on Friday).
@Kent -- you're right (I think). It's about 50/50.
I guess you know -- I actually live in Allen. We are pretty pumped up here. Thanks for mentioning it!
Regards,
Mark
I would venture to say Mark's Friday Freebies is high on the list for his RSS numbers - I think it's one of the better ways I've seen to grow your list.
BTW Mark - I may be your only reader that cares - but CONGRATS to the Allen High Eagles - Division 1 State Football Champs for Texas. High school football is kinda big in Texas.
Your RSS #'s are doing great! 427 as of writing this comment. I think that is wonderful. I'd like to take this wonderful "Writer's Block / Busy With Christmas" opportunity to pick your brain and maybe offer a a paragraph or two about what you have done to grow your numbers to 427. I think that is great.
To me, it seems like many bloggers are either under 100 or they are flying over 1000 without much area in between. So what are the top three things that you would attribute to your RSS numbers looking sweet! ;)
